“It usually doesn’t work out well when a man tries to serve two masters simultaneously. One will win-out and he will leave one behind. It is like that for the practicing alcoholic who tries to rely on two Spirits: The spirits in the bottle and the Spirit in the sky. If he is lucky the spirits in the bottle will turn on him leaving no other possible action than to turn to the Spirit in the sky.


No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.
