While drinking the progression of my thinking was: “Who do you think I am?” This progressed to “Don’t you know who lam?” When I got to AA, the 12 step process produced different questions. “Who have I been pretending to be?” “Whom did my actions say that I was?” And eventually, “Who would God have me become?”
When we don’t put the brakes on our self-absorption, we have nothing stopping us from total self-destruction. We become the fruits of our actions.
